About WindClan
general
WindClan is a swift and hardy Clan, built of lean and wiry warriors who run the great moorland hills and, secret to the other Clans in the forest, claw tunnels out from beneath the surface. Some say the tunnels stretch beneath the entire forest territory, and need constant monitoring and protecting from invasive animals - and, more importantly - kept hidden from the other Clans. These ranks are called 'moor runners' and 'tunnelers', respectively, and while all part of one Clan, this division can be of some political conflict for some cats.
MOOR RUNNERS are warriors who hunt and patrol aboveground on the open moorlands, much like the other Clans do. They have a sharp eye for keeping watch on the distant hills for enemies, and run with the wind at speeds unmatched by the other Clans. They make up more than half of the Clan, and often, are the ones who lead it (which can become a point of contention with their tunneling Clanmates).
TUNNELERS are small cats who clear the tunnels and have memorized the cobwebbed network of paths to travel, hunt, and fight, whenever needed. This elite role is considered special even in WindClan, as not every cat is suit or even built for it - they're typically small and wiry, or else they simply can't fit. It's also known that tunneler training can take longer than normal warrior training - and it can sometimes bring injury, and even death to those inexperienced underground. Although, once underground in their element, they can run as fast as any moor runner, weaving through tunnels with expertise that would shock the other Clans... if they knew about the tunnels at all. It is WindClan's best-kept secret since its foundation.
With their unmatched speed and relentless tactics, WindClan is an invaluable ally and a horrifying enemy. Neighborly yet aloof at times, in a pinch, an ally can count on WindClan to have their back, if they’re not tearing into it.

demeanor
Despite their pride, WindClan in recent history has been considered quite rational - while quick to offend, they are the least likely to start battles with the other Clans. As well as being the fastest of the Clans, they're also considered to be quite quick-thinking, able to make decisions quicker and more effectively than the other Clans. Less vain than RiverClan, less cunning than RiverClan, less hospitable than ThunderClan (they've never been too fond of admitting outsiders) - WindClan is truly a witty and folksy contender, fiercely defensive of their culture and beliefs.
They are proud of their proximity to the Mothermouth, and thereby StarClan: they pride themselves on their physical and spiritual closeness. How can they not be, when they choose to sleep and hunt beneath the wide open skies? They are also the Clan with the deepest knowledge on interacting with Twolegs, as they have a flourishing Twoleg farm that borders their northern territory. They know how to stay well-hidden from their curious eyes.
taboo
WindClan, in its spirituality, is an incredibly charged Clan - they believe in the elements of taboo, good and bad. Straying from the norm can often be met with backlash. Here are a few base 'rules' WindClan cats adhere to:
☆ The warrior code is to be followed in its entirety. The leader will handle code-breakers at their own discretion, it is something that they will always take seriously and formally.
☆ Training with claws unsheathed in WindClan is in fact a norm! Of course no real harm should be done, but an ancient leader claimed that she wanted her clan to know and become familiar with the sting of a claw in battle.
☆ Cross-clan romance is NOT allowed, and cross-clan friendships will cause distrust and suspicion to be placed on your character. With WindClan has open as it is, it worries that other Clans will take advantage of their amicable natures.
☆ It's considered a taboo for a moor runner and a tunneler to have kits; there have been instances of these kits becoming injured in the line of duty because their bodies "aren't fit" for running or tunneling. It's not forbidden, but you might get some uneasy looks!
☆ Tunneling training takes longer than moor runner training; it is normal for a tunneler apprentice to spend more time training than their moor runner denmates.

history
LEADER
Wrenstar
Ascending to leadership two years ago, and a respected moor runner. Wrenstar is considered a noble cat, but is not beneath reacting to the other Clans when they test their chances on the borders.
DEPUTY
Sorrelshrew
Not initially Wrenstar's deputy, Sorrelshrew is WindClan's first tunneling high rank in many years. When Wrenstar's former deputy, Flintfoot, became sick this past Newleaf and passed away, she was named deputy in his place, to the surprise of the moor runners and delight of the tunnelers.
HEALERS
Lavenderface & Sunpoppy
A mild-mannered and kind pair, Lavenderface trained Sunpoppy and now they both work together WindClan's respected and skilled healers.
Most recently, WindClan has overcome a fight with a delayed outbreak of Whitecough in its camp, surprising them halfway through Newleaf when they were supposed to be recovering from an admittedly mellow Leaf-bare. Quite a few cats became sick, but only a handful went to StarClan. Defensive as ever, WindClan is desperate to prove to the other Clans now that they are as hardy as ever, despite their rough Newleaf.
WindClan has kept its paws clean of unnecessary battles with the other Clans for upwards of a year, but as tensions across all borders ramp up as a particularly dry Greenleaf rears its head early to the forest, we have to wonder... can they keep them that way?

territory
WindClan territory is located in the northwest quarter of the forest, sharing borders with all three Clans as well as the only Clan to border StarClan's territory (Highstones). It is composed primarily of moorlands and fields, with only a few stunted hazel trees to their name. After all, they prefer the open skies!
CAMP. Located in a scoop at the apex of a sandy moor hill, and hidden by a dense ring of golden gorse bushes. One cat is always stationed on a boulder just outside of this tangle to watch the nearby hills for threats, as their open-sky camp leaves them susceptible to attack if left unguarded. What sets them apart from the other Clans is that most cats prefer sleeping under the wide-open sky, except for kits, queens, and elders. Even the leader sleeps among their warriors, giving the Clan a more closeknit feel. In bad weather, moor runners will sleep under the gorse, where moor runners will retreat to their tunnels for shelter. The gorse can get pretty tangled up and crowded, after all.
THE TUNNELS. A wide and expansive cobwebbed network of tunnels maintained by the tunnelers. Legend has it the Great Badger Queen sent her many cubs to carve them out when they were at war with LeopardClan, and after a brave LeopardClan apprentice called Swiftpaw outsmarted them by leading them all to one stretch of tunnel and collapsed it, saving the Clans from their terror. The tunnels are now kept WindClan's greatest secret and asset. Some say it expands beneath the entire forest, not just the moors.
BADGER HILL. The largest hill in WindClan, shaped like a giant burial bound. Legend has it this is where the Great Badger Queen was vanquished, and the grass and earth grew over her body, giving WindClan an enormous hill to survey their land with. Several tunnel entrances can be found on this hill, although are hidden from the naked eye.
SUNFLOWER SLIP. During Greenleaf, a dense swathe of sunflowers bloom on the sun-facing side of the tallest hill in WindClan (Badger Hill). It's a popular spot for apprentices to play and for warriors to hunt, as sunflower seeds bring in lots of hungry mice and rabbits. Unfortunately, the sunflowers typically wilt by the first frost of Leaf-bare.
OUTLOOK ROCK. A large rock to the east of camp that points towards Fourtrees, located in such a place that any cat who stands on it can see over their entire eastern territory.
THE GORGE. A deep gorge cut by the river in the terrain, and their border with RiverClan. Few cats like venturing there (they don't quite like the spray of cold water that's always surrounding it), and apprentices are forbidden to approach it within ten fox-lengths.

TWOLEG FARM. Located to the far west of camp, the farm is home to cows, sheep, and two farm dogs live. Currently, one barn cat by the name of "Buck" lives there, and is amicable with WindClan. Although WindClan do not regularly enter its premises, it is closely patrolled as to ensure no unwanted character is found crossing their border.
